What to Expect

Your stay at the Willow Grove will involve attending a variety of activities including school, therapy groups, family meetings, individual sessions and recreational sessions. There will also be free time for activities of your choice.

At the weekends the routine is much more relaxed as many young people go on overnight leave or else spend time away from Willow Grove with family members.

All young people spend their first weekend in hospital and the Willow Grove staff will work with you to develop a plan about how to spend your days.

Spending time away from Willow Grove is dependent on your needs and will be discussed with you before each weekend.

Sometimes at the weekend we arrange to go on outings to the movies, museums, parks etc.

It's so hard here at first but it gets easier. The nurses and people are amazing. And there is no place better for you than here you won't want to leave!! Stay positive and remember you will get better. Stay strong and remember you are No.1! Look after each other!

I know things are very hard and maybe you are really struggling at the mo but things really do get better here, when you give this place a chance, you just have to want good things in your wonderful and developing life. Talk to the nurses too, don't be afraid to say how you really feeling and what's on your mind. Don't worry about other young people they are the nicest people ever and are very non-judgemental and full of advice and consideration. Just be yourself, don't think you need to hide who you are really inside. Good luck fellow Willow Grovers!! Oh and don't forget you deserve to be happy and to live your life to the fullest. Hope you feel better soon!

When you come here first it'll be hard to open up but when you do things start to get better. Don't be afraid to be yourself because everyone's really accepting and you'll make amazing friends. The nurses might annoy you but they're only doing it to help.

It may seem hard at the start, coming in here and, like, knowing nobody. But it gets easy straight away. You really make great friends here and also have amazing memories. Everything gets better, you just have to want to get better. Sometimes life's hard but the struggle to get back up again that's the test, but it, like always gets better.

Young people reading all these messages, you probably think the nurses wrote them themselves, but they didn't and believe me it gets so much better. No matter how much you don't like this place at the minute, you will leave loving it. No one could tell you how great this place is and how much it really does help. The staff are all amazing and they treat you like young adults and not children. And the bonds you make here with the other young people are remarkable. You will leave here feeling like you've known them forever, Best of luck!
