Other Programmes

In addition to dedicated Wellness & Recovery Centre programmes, many service users access a range of clinical programmes as day patients which they commenced while in hospital. The access point for such day programmes is the Wellness & Recovery Centre but the clinical programmes themselves are delivered by specialist multidisciplinary teams and focus primarily on disorder specific interventions, education and supports. These clinical programmes include the following;

Access to Treatment and adjunctive interventions

The Wellness & Recovery Centre links service users to departmentally delivered programmes including

  • Living Through Distress programme. This programme is delivered by the Clinical Psychology department and aims to assist service users with a history of self harm pursue more effective solutions by managing impulsive, destructive behaviours survive crisis situations and increase their tolerance of distress.
  • Mindfulness. This programme is delivered by the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Department and aims to assist service users learn the meditative and relaxation skills to support their mental health.
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Individual Psychotherapy through Psychology and Social Work Departments
  • Family Therapy
  • Aftercare groups

As part of the development of the Wellness & Recovery Centre, a panel of experts through experience will be involved and remunerated for their work. This panel is being developed by the Consumer Council and comprises of people who have used St Patrick’s University Hospital and want to assist it developing relevant services into the future.
