Nurturing Hope & Resilience

Nurturing Compassion and Resilience is a joint venture between the Depression Programme and the Cognitive Psychotherapy Department. Workshops are facilitated by Vanessa Dowling and Stuart Colquhoun. The programme is offered through The Wellness and Recovery Centre as a day-care programme.

It is a closed Psychotherapy Programme that is designed for individuals who have experience of depression or other mood related problems. Cycles commence three times each year.

Aims

  • Encourage participants to embrace and sustain recovery from depression.
  • Facilitate the journey towards long term recovery
  • Develop a deeper understanding of personal factors that trigger and maintain Depression.
  • Develop personal understanding of underlying beliefs about self and behaviours used to compensate for them.
  • Provide a Therapeutic environment for exploration of early life experience that continues to impact on present life.
  • Reduce isolation and Enhance Compassionate Support and identification
  • Encourage/ Facilitate therapeutic change
  • Develop Compassionate Skills and Enhance Compassionate self-awareness
  • Encourage participants to identify and challenge personal factors that maintain the depressive cycle in a compassionate way.
